Concrete Leveling

Sunken or uneven concrete does not always need to be replaced — our concrete leveling service lifts and stabilizes settled slabs quickly, cleanly, and at a fraction of the cost of a full tear-out.

Concrete contractor finishing and leveling a flatwork slab surface in Wichita Falls, TX

Why Your Concrete Sinks in the First Place

Concrete slabs settle when the soil underneath them shifts, erodes, or compresses over time. This happens for a lot of reasons — water washing away fine particles under the slab, poor compaction during the original installation, tree roots disrupting the sub-base, or simply natural soil movement from years of Texas heat and rain cycles.

The result is a slab that sits lower than it should. You end up with an uneven edge at a joint, a trip hazard on your walkway, a driveway section that dips toward your garage, or a patio corner that has dropped an inch or two. It looks bad, it drains poorly, and it creates a real safety risk.

Concrete leveling fixes that problem by filling the void under the slab and raising it back to its original position. We serve homeowners and business owners throughout Wichita Falls, TX who want a fast, cost-effective fix that actually lasts.

How Concrete Leveling Works

The process is straightforward and much less disruptive than breaking out and replacing a slab. Here is what happens from start to finish.

Step 1: Assessment

We walk the slab, check how much it has settled, tap to listen for voids underneath, and determine whether leveling is the right solution. Some slabs are too damaged or too thin to lift safely, and we will tell you honestly if that is the case before any work begins.

Step 2: Drilling Small Holes

We drill a series of small holes through the slab in strategic locations. These holes are typically about the size of a quarter and are placed where they will allow material to fill the void most effectively. The holes are drilled, not chiseled, so the surrounding slab stays intact.

Step 3: Filling the Void

A slurry material is pumped through the holes and fills the void beneath the slab. As the material fills in and pressure builds, it raises the slab back toward its original elevation. We monitor the lift carefully to avoid over-raising or cracking the concrete during the process.

Step 4: Patching and Cleanup

Once the slab is at the correct height, we patch the drill holes with a concrete mix that blends in with the surrounding surface. The area is cleaned up and ready for use in a matter of hours, not days. The small patch marks are minimal and fade over time.

Is Concrete Leveling Right for Your Situation?

Leveling is a great option in many situations, but it is not right for every slab. Here is a quick guide to help you know when it makes sense and when a different approach is needed.

Concrete leveling is a good fit when:

  • Your slab has settled but the concrete itself is still in solid condition
  • You have a trip hazard at a driveway joint, sidewalk panel, or patio edge
  • One section of a larger slab has dropped while the surrounding area is still level
  • Water is pooling near your foundation because a slab is directing runoff the wrong way
  • You want to avoid the cost and mess of a full concrete replacement
  • Your driveway, garage floor, or patio is structurally sound but sitting low

If the concrete itself is heavily cracked, badly deteriorated, or the sub-base failure is too widespread, leveling may not be sufficient. In those cases, our team can walk you through the options for concrete repair and replacement so you know the full picture before making a decision.

What to Expect: Cost, Timeframe, and Results

One of the biggest advantages of concrete leveling over replacement is the cost. On average, leveling a settled slab costs about 50 to 70 percent less than tearing it out and pouring new concrete. That is a significant savings, especially when the slab itself still has years of life left in it.

Most concrete leveling jobs are completed in a single day. For a few settled panels or a section of driveway, we can often get the work done in just a few hours. You get your surface back quickly without waiting a week for new concrete to cure.

The results last. As long as the underlying cause of the settlement is addressed, a properly leveled slab will stay in place for many years. We build that durability into our process by making sure voids are fully filled and the material used can support the weight of whatever is going on top of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long after leveling can I drive or walk on the slab?
In most cases, you can walk on the leveled slab within an hour of the material being placed. For vehicle traffic on a driveway or parking area, we typically recommend waiting at least 24 hours for the material to fully set and reach its working strength. We will give you a specific timeframe based on what material we used and the conditions at the time of your job.
Will the drill holes be visible after the job?
Yes, you will see small patched circles where the drill holes were. They are about the size of a quarter and are filled with a concrete mix that is close in color to the surrounding slab. Fresh patches tend to look slightly lighter than the aged concrete around them, but they blend in better over time as they weather. The small marks are a minor cosmetic trade-off for a much less invasive and less expensive process than replacement.
What if my concrete sinks again after leveling?
Re-settling after leveling is usually caused by an ongoing drainage problem or an unresolved sub-base issue that was not addressed during the leveling process. When we assess your slab before any work, we look for those root causes. If we see a drainage problem that will keep causing settlement, we will tell you about it and recommend fixing it as part of the project. Leveling a slab without fixing the underlying cause is a temporary solution, and we do not want to set you up for that.
